LAPP Quality
On June 5th, 2002 the Bushing Division became the first division of LAPP
Insulator Company LLC to achieve full-site certification of conformity to the ISO 9001:2000
quality management standard.
Each of the three divisions of Lapp Insulator Company LLC proudly holds an
ISO 9001:2000 registration. The Bushings division is registered through
the Quality Management Institute (QMI), while the Substation and T & D
Divisions are registered through the Ceramic Industry Certification Scheme,
Ltd. (CICS).
The Bushing division was the first to undertake
the massive effort of achieving ISO 9001 registration, achieving
their goal in September of 1992*. The T&D division was next
to follow with their registration to ISO 9002 being finalized
in August of 1995. ISO 9001 certification of the LeRoy Porcelain
Division, in April of 1997, rounds out our quest to achieve
ISO registration at all three of the Lapp facilities.
The gains made in the effort to achieve ISO
registration and the continuous improvement since, has put
Lapp Insulator Company LLC in position for providing unparalleled
quality and customer service. Less than 3% of all companies
in North America have a quality management system registered
to the ISO 9000 Standard series. The implementation of the
quality management system was an endeavor that required several
years of dedicated work by all LAPP employees.
John Hurshman, Lapp's President, commented,
"We have built the foundation that we will use to continually
strive for improvement in Safety, Quality, and Customer Service.
We have invested in our future."
* ISO 9000 - original registration date
- Sept. 1, 1992. Registration went continuous March 24, 1998.
